Five industry-leading professionals tapped to round out the resort’s leadership team

LAS VEGAS – Resorts World Las Vegas, which is being developed by Genting Berhad, has named five new executive team members to help spearhead the opening of the US$4 billion state-of-the-art luxury casino-resort.

“We are proud to announce the addition of a talented group of industry professionals to further escalate the growth of Resorts World Las Vegas as we continue to bring the luxury destination to life,” said Scott Sibella, president of Resorts World Las Vegas.  “Every executive was hand-selected for their extensive experience as leaders in the hospitality and gaming industry. Each has many years of demonstrated proficiency and excellence in their respective disciplines to ensure the successful completion of our highly anticipated resort.”

The newly appointed Resorts World Las Vegas executives include:

Chris Nordling – Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer 

Nordling joins the Resorts World team from MGM Resorts International, where he served in a variety of senior leadership roles for an impressive 20 years. He began his career there as the chief financial officer of The Mirage Hotel & Casino and later Bellagio Resort & Casino, contributing to a significant time in Las Vegas history for the hospitality industry. Following the Mirage Resorts acquisition by MGM, Nordling was an integral part of the team that merged both organizations into one company which today is MGM Resorts International. Nordling also served as chief financial officer of CityCenter, a $9 billion mixed-use development, where he was responsible for the construction, soft cost and pre-opening budgets. In addition, he oversaw the residential and retail developments. Finally, in his latest role as president of corporate entities, Nordling led MGM Resorts International’s Profit Growth Plan, a transformational enterprise-wide program that generated more than $400 million in combined revenue enhancements and savings. In his new role at Resorts World Las Vegas, Nordling oversees finance and accounting, information technology and internal audit, working closely with the resort’s executive team to provide overall leadership and ensure the successful completion of the project within budget.

Max Tappeiner – Senior Vice President of Operations

In his role as senior vice president of operations, Tappeiner oversees all resort operations for Resorts World Las Vegas including hotel, security, facilities, sales, marketing and revenue management. A hospitality veteran, Tappeiner previously spent 12 years with Mandarin Oriental, successfully opening two hotels in New York and Las Vegas. Under Tappeiner’s leadership, Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas was awarded the first Forbes Travel Guide Triple Five-Star in Las Vegas. Tappeiner also was vice president of hotel operations for four years at The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas, where he directed more than 4,500 team members under the hotel operations umbrella and successfully completed an $80 million room renovation project.

Bart Mahoney – Vice President of Food & Beverage

Mahoney brings more than 25 years of experience in food and beverage operations for internationally recognized resorts including Wynn Resorts and MGM Resorts International. Throughout his career, he has built global partnerships with world-class celebrity chefs and acclaimed culinary professionals to create innovative, award-winning culinary concepts generating more than $530 million in sales. In his new role as vice president of food & beverage, Mahoney is responsible for managing development and operation of the resort’s premier portfolio of restaurants, bars and lounges to ensure the ultimate guest experience.

Michael Peltyn – Senior Vice President of Human Resources

In his new position, Peltyn manages all facets of human resources for Resorts World Las Vegas, while also leveraging his many years of experience leading strategic recruitment initiatives, mass business processes and logistics optimization. Prior to joining the team, Peltyn worked in HR leadership roles planning and executing large-scale opening activities within the HR space for numerous premium brands including Bellagio Resort & Casino, ARIA Resort & Casino and Vdara Hotel & Spa. For close to a decade he was responsible for the strategic direction of HR for the 4,000-room AAA Five-Diamond ARIA Resort & Casino, as well as provided oversight for Vdara Hotel & Spa, Crystals Retail District and Shadow Creek Golf Course, leading more than 8,000 employees on the CityCenter Campus.

Bill McArthur – Chief Information Officer

McArthur brings more than 20 years of international IT leadership experience to the Resorts World Las Vegas team. As chief information officer, McArthur is responsible for the strategic execution of operations, as well as aligning all areas of the business to ensure innovative and effective IT solutions. His vision for the property is to be innovative, guest experience-focused and provide world-class technology services. His previous experience includes IT executive leadership roles at The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas and Scientific Games. In his role as vice president of IT at The Venetian Las Vegas, McArthur successfully executed a multi-year transformation of the IT organization from a transaction-based organization to a proactive and credible resource.
